Heartfelt Boho Wedding at Degroots Greenhouse

Some weddings just feel extra special, and Talia & Timmy’s day was one of them. Their love story began on an online Christian dating app, where they instantly connected over their shared love of music and faith. Early on, Timmy even wrote a song for Talia which made such a sweet beginning to a relationship built on creativity, laughter, and deep connection.

Their wedding day in Sarnia, Ontario was the perfect reflection of who they are - boho, heartfelt, and so much fun. The early fall sun gave everything a warm glow, and from start to finish, it was filled with family, faith, and joyful celebration.

Ceremony Full of Meaning

The day began at Bluewater Baptist Church at Devine Campus, where Talia’s bridesmaids gathered around her in prayer before she walked down the aisle. Both families prayed over the couple during the ceremony, a moment that felt sacred, personal, and unforgettable.

For couples planning a faith-centered ceremony:

  • Include a moment of prayer or blessing from your family.

  • Choose a venue that feels meaningful to your love story.

  • Keep your ceremony authentic to your values and beliefs.

Boho Elegance at Degroots Greenhouse

Their reception took place at Degroot’s Greenhouse in Sarnia Ontario, a venue that held extra meaning for the bride. Talia’s mom is a manager there and helped design the reception décor and florals. Lakeshore Event Rentals crafted the bouquets and other pieces of décor, tying together the rich autumn palette of emerald green, black, and pops of orange, peach, and white.

Tip for couples choosing a venue:

  • If you have a personal connection to a space, it adds so much depth and meaning to your day - and your photos will reflect that!

Above the dance floor, a stunning round chandelier with hanging greenery and Edison bulbs created a magical, intimate atmosphere. It was the perfect setting for an evening filled with music, laughter, and heartfelt moments, including a father-daughter dance to a song written by Talia’s dad.

The Details That Made It Unique

Wedding Style Highlights:

  • Bridesmaids: Emerald green dresses, each in different styles to suit each bridesmaid, with warm floral bouquets.

  • Groomsmen: Black suits, emerald bowties, and boutonnières to match the bouquets.

  • Florals: Autumn-inspired with orange, peach, red, and white accents.

A Photographer’s Favorite Moments

My two favourite moments of the entire day were:

  1. A petal toss immediately after their ceremony where all their guests were able to cheer them on and throw eco-friendly dried flower petals

  2. A spontaneous end-of-night moment when Talia & Timmy ordered Taco Bell and enjoyed a few bites together, laughing and soaking up their last moments on the dance floor.

Fun Reception Ideas:

  • Plan one silly or unexpected moment just for you two

  • Grab some fast food, take a late-night beach walk, or have a private dance at the end of the night

  • These spontaneous memories often become your favorite photos!

From My Perspective as Their Photographer

When Talia reached out to me as she began planning her wedding, she wanted photos that felt genuine, joyful, and natural. Photos that captured not just how the day looked, but how it felt. Photos that showed their real personalities, not just posed “perfection”.

Here’s how I helped bring her photo dreams to life:

  • Asked specific questions about their must-have photos.

  • Got to know them as real people and built a friendship.

  • Built a timeline that included sunset portraits and their Taco Bell moment.

  • Created a relaxed atmosphere so they could be fully present in their day.

It was an honour to photograph a couple so in love, surrounded by such a strong community of family and friends.

“Amanda was absolutely amazing to work with!! She captured our day so well and had such a fun and bubbly energy. Our pictures are more beautiful than I could have hoped and such a sweet keepsake to look back on and remember our special day!” — Talia
